Opinion | Why Democrats are to Blame for this Shutdown

For the past 29 days, Chuck Schumer has been crying on the Senate Floor, blaming Republicans for shutting down the government. The truth is, Schumer is shitting his pants because he is worried about a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. AOC is a democratic socialist, and Chuck Schumer is a crybaby who has been in power for a long time now. Deep down, he knows the American people will blame Democrats for this shutdown the longer it goes on, and he knows the clock is ticking.

You probably see both sides blaming each other in TV interviews, arguing who is to blame for this shutdown. The reality is, this shutdown lies in the hands of Democrats. They want to shut the government down because they have so-called "leverage". Even Katherine Clark, who is the Democratic Whip in the House of Representatives, says the American people need to realize the Democrats have leverage right now. That's right, they would rather use the leverage available to them right now. They would rather do this instead of paying our troops, paying air traffic controllers, paying TSA agents, and other essential federal workers. The reality is, all the democrats care about is how they can advance their radical agenda, while Americans suffer due to their shutdown.

Instead of opening the government and negotiating, Democrats would rather close the government to negotiate extending the Affordable Care Act subsidies. This can still be done by passing the continuing resolution, and they can negotiate while the government is open. This makes no fucking sense, but Democrats have been unable to understand what a good strategy is for a long time now. The republican party's approval rating has gone up since the shutdown, while the democrat's has suffered. This is because Americans realize this shutdown solely belongs to Democrats.
